Cookie Policy

This policy explains how Look Like Us, operated by Westbridge, MB, uses cookies and similar storage in your browser, and how you can control them.

Effective 29 August 2026

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device. We also use related technologies such as local storage and session storage, which can hold preferences or a draft quiz. In this policy, "cookies" includes those tools unless we say otherwise.

Cookies may be first-party (set by looklike.us) or third-party (set by a vendor such as Stripe or an analytics provider). They may last only for the browsing session or remain until they expire or you delete them.

2. How we ask for consent

When you first visit, we show a banner. Agreeing lets us use non-essential cookies, including analytics if they are enabled. Disagreeing means we use only cookies that are necessary for the site to work. We store your choice locally so we do not ask on every page load.

You can change your mind by clearing site data for looklike.us in your browser, which resets the banner, or by using the browser controls in section 6. Essential cookies do not require consent under EU rules because the site cannot function without them (for example, keeping you signed in).

3. Essential cookies and local storage

These are required for security and core features. They are used whether or not you agree to the banner.

  • Authentication. Session and refresh tokens from our auth provider so you stay signed in, can reset a password, and complete Google or Apple sign-in. Without these, membership pages and Settings cannot load as you.
  • Security. Tokens that protect forms and OAuth redirects from being abused.
  • Cookie choice. A local record that you agreed or disagreed, so the banner can stay dismissed.
  • Theme. Light or dark appearance, if you toggle it.
  • Quiz draft. Pending quiz answers may be stored in your browser until you create an account, so you do not lose the result on refresh.
  • PWA / offline cache. If you install Look Like Us on the home screen, the browser may cache assets so the shell loads faster. That cache is not used to advertise to you.

4. Preference cookies

Preference cookies remember choices that are not strictly required for security but make the product usable, such as UI theme. If you block them, you may need to set those choices again on each visit.

5. Analytics and performance

If you tap Agree, we may use analytics cookies or similar measurements to learn which pages are used, whether the quiz is completed, and where the product fails. Data is used in aggregate where possible. We do not use analytics to sell your identity to advertisers.

If you tap Disagree, we do not set those non-essential analytics cookies. The site still works.

6. Third-party cookies

Stripe. When you open checkout or the billing portal, Stripe may set cookies on its own domain to process payment, detect fraud, and keep the checkout session secure. Those cookies are governed by Stripe's policies. We cannot complete a paid subscription without Stripe.

Google and Apple. If you sign in with Google or Apple, those companies set cookies on their domains as part of their sign-in flow. That processing is described in their privacy policies.

We only enable additional third-party marketing cookies if we have a lawful basis and you have agreed to non-essential cookies. We do not currently run third-party advertising networks on Look Like Us.

7. How long they last

Session cookies expire when you close the browser. Authentication cookies last long enough for a normal return visit and are refreshed while you use the app. Cookie-consent and theme values remain until you clear them. Stripe and sign-in providers set their own lifetimes.

8. How to control cookies

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings (Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and others each have a privacy or cookies panel). You can also use private browsing. Blocking all cookies will typically sign you out and may break checkout.

On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → Safari (or your browser) → Advanced or Privacy to manage cookies and site data. On desktop, use the browser's settings search for "cookies".

Do Not Track signals are not consistently honoured across the industry. Our banner is the control we provide for non-essential cookies on this site.

9. More about your data

Cookies are one way we process data. The full picture — including quiz answers, membership records, and your rights under the GDPR — is in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when our vendors or features change. The effective date is at the top of this page.
