Stopped weighing daily, switched to weekly average. Scale anxiety gone

Small thing that made a big difference. I used to weigh every morning, see +0.6, and spend the whole day in a mood about it. Then weigh, see -0.8, and "reward" myself. The scale was running my week.

Now I still weigh every morning (that part matters, more data points) but I put the number into a spreadsheet and I only look at the 7-day average, which I check on Sundays. The daily number I literally do not look at, I type it and close the app.

Average went 72.4, 71.9, 71.6, 71.0, 70.8, 70.1 over the last 6 weeks. Would never have seen that in the daily chaos. Some individual days were up 1.2kg from the day before.

Also measuring waist every 2 weeks. Down 4cm.

This is how everyone should be doing it and it is why the "weigh once a week" advice is actually wrong. Once a week gives you one noisy number. Daily with an average gives you a trend. You have the right approach.

Doing this since my plateau thread. The 3 weeks I thought I was stalled, the average was flat but the waist was moving. Would not have known without the tape.

Needed this today. Up 1.1 overnight after a normal day and I was about to blow up my whole plan.

Google sheet. Column A date, column B weight, column C is just =AVERAGE of the last 7 rows. Took 5 minutes. The tracker on this site does the weekly average too if you log in, I just like having my own.
