Weekends are where my deficit goes to die

Mon to Fri: 1900 kcal, protein on point, steps done, feel great.
Saturday: pub lunch, 4 pints, takeaway. Easily 4000.

Sunday: roast at my mum's, "I've already ruined it" mindset, 3500.

Weekly deficit: gone. Six weeks of this and I have lost 0.4kg. I am basically eating at maintenance with extra steps.

I know the answer is "eat less on the weekend" thank you. What I want to know is how people who have actual social lives and a mum who makes roast potatoes actually do it.

Stop trying to make Saturday a diet day. Make Mon-Fri 1700 instead of 1900 and give yourself 2900 for Saturday. That is the same weekly total as 1900 x 7 but it fits your actual life.

Then on Saturday: eat the pub lunch, have the pints, skip the takeaway. Or skip the lunch and have the takeaway. Pick two of three. The "I've ruined it so I might as well" thing is the real problem and it only happens if Saturday has a number you cannot hit.

Pick two of three is a rule I can actually follow. The 1700 weekday thing scares me a bit but I will try it.

Sunday roast is not the problem, the "already ruined it" is. A roast is like 900-1100 if you go normal on the potatoes. You are logging it as a write-off and then adding another 2000 of actual write-off on top. Just eat the roast and log it.

4 pints is 900 kcal before you have eaten anything. Not saying do not drink. Saying that is the line item people pretend is not there.

Walk to the pub. Walk home from your mum's. I am mostly joking but also not, Saturday is usually the day with the fewest steps as well as the most food and that is a double hit.

Protein at breakfast on Saturday. Big eggs breakfast, 40g protein. You turn up to the pub lunch not starving and the takeaway urge at 9pm is half what it was. Will not fix it alone but it takes the edge off.
