Full body workout plan
Full body is not a compromise. It is how a lot of strong, lean people actually train when they stop performing for a camera.

Why frequency helps
You practice the main patterns often. Technique improves. You can do fewer sets per session and still grow. That is useful when you also have a deficit running.
A no-drama template
Squat, hinge, push, pull, carry, done. Change the variation twice a month, not twice a session. If you want the sets already periodised, pick a blueprint instead of remixing YouTube.
A sample session you can repeat
Goblet squat or leg press, Romanian deadlift, a press, a row, a carry. Two or three hard sets. Leave a rep or two. Write the load. Next time, beat one number. That is a full body workout plan, not a 14-move circuit with a nameless PDF logo.
Do it Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Walk the rest. If you want the sets already matched to a look and a meal target, pick a blueprint. Remixing five creators is how the plan dies in week two.
Same skeleton, different variation each day
Monday can be a goblet squat, a Romanian deadlift, a bench, a chest-supported row, and a carry. Wednesday can be a split squat, a hip hinge or back extension, an overhead press, a pulldown, and a carry. Friday can repeat the versions you want to load most. That is one week. You did not need a new PDF.
Keep the skeleton visible. If a friend asked what you did, you should say squat, hinge, push, pull, carry. If you say a bit of everything and a 20-move circuit, you do not have a full-body plan. You have a class.
- Day A: squat, hinge, horizontal press, horizontal pull, carry.
- Day B: split squat or lunge, hinge variation, vertical press, vertical pull, core.
- Day C: the A or B lifts you want to progress this month.
How hard a full-body set should feel
Leave one or two reps. On a full-body day you still have three other patterns after the squat. If you empty the tank on set one, the row will be a shrug and the press will be a bounce. Hard is the last two reps looking like work. Failure on every set is how the third exercise becomes theatre.
Two or three hard sets per move is enough when you train the pattern three times a week. You do not need five sets of everything. That is a body-part day stuffed into a full-body suit. Keep the session under an hour unless you planned long rests for strength.
Leave the last set of the last lift as the one you might take closest to failure. Everything before that should still look like the lift. If you need a sit-down after the squat, you went too close too early. Full body is a relay, not five separate max-outs.
Carries and core without a 40-minute finisher
A farmer or suitcase carry for 3 trips of 20-40 metres teaches the torso to stay tall under load. A plank or a dead bug for 2 sets after that is enough core for most full-body days. You do not need a second class of cable twists because a story told you the obliques were asleep.
If the carry is the only time your grip and your midsection work together, keep it. If you skip it every Friday because you are late, put it first once a week. The finisher that never happens is not part of the plan.
Skip the 15-minute ab video at the end if it makes you late. Two sets of a carry and one plank is a grown-up finish. You can train the wall again on Wednesday. A 40-minute core dump after a full-body day is how people decide the plan is too long.
Full body on a cut vs a small surplus
In a deficit, keep the same skeleton and accept slower personal bests. Hold the load. Drop a set if sleep is junk. In a small surplus, you can add a set on the lifts you want to grow. You still do not need a 90-minute wander. The extra food is for recovery, not for a new circus of isolation.
A Look Like Us full-body blueprint pairs those days with a meal target so the cut and the lift are not arguing. If you are guessing both, you will cut the food and add sets in the same panicked week. Pick one lever at a time.
Do not flip from cut food to surplus sets in the same week because a photo was unkind. Hold the skeleton for 8 weeks. Change food or change a set, not both on a Sunday night. The plan is the repeat, not the panic edit.
FAQ
- Will I overtrain doing full body three times a week?
- Not if the sets are moderate and you sleep. Overtraining is usually under-eating plus hero sessions.
- Can advanced lifters use full body?
- Yes, with more variation and smarter load. It is not only a beginner toy.
- Can I do full body four days a week?
- You can if the fourth day is lighter and you recover. Three is the default for a reason. Four full-body days with the same heavy squat each time is a lot of the same joint, so rotate the variation and leave reps in the tank on the extra day.
- Should I separate upper and lower inside a full-body session?
- Order the lift you care about first: squat if that is the priority, press first on one of the three days if that is the weak point. Alternating a lower and an upper move is fine if it keeps you moving. Supersets are a clock tool, not a religion.
- Is a circuit the same as a full-body plan?
- A circuit can be full body, but it is usually worse for adding load because you are panting instead of lifting. Use a circuit when time is ugly and straight sets when you want the logbook to move. Do not live in circuits because they feel more like a workout.
