0 to 8 pull-ups in 4 months (F, 31). Here is exactly what I did
Could not do a single one in January. Did 8 clean dead-hang pull-ups today. 64kg, 168cm, been lifting about a year total.
What I did, 3x a week after my normal session:
Weeks 1-4: Dead hangs 3x20s. Scap pulls 3x8 (just shrugging up and down from the hang). Negatives 3x3, jumping up and lowering as slowly as I could, about 4-5 seconds.
Weeks 5-8: Band assisted pull-ups 3x5 with the thick band. Still doing negatives, now 3x4. Got my first real rep at the end of week 7 and nearly cried in the gym.
Weeks 9-12: Thin band 3x5, plus 1-2 real reps before each set. By week 12 I could do 3.
Weeks 13-16: No band. Did as many sets of as many as I could, stopping one short of failure. 3,3,2 became 4,4,3 became 5,5,4. Today I just went for it and got 8.
Also lost about 2kg in that time which I am sure helped. Lat pulldowns twice a week as well. Rows.
The negatives were the big one I think. Everyone says band assisted but the slow lowering is what built it for me.
This is the best pull-up progression I have seen on here and it is because it is boring and took 16 weeks. Everyone wants the 30 day version. There is no 30 day version.
