Guides/Six pack meal prep

Six pack meal prep

Meal prep is how a six pack diet survives a busy Wednesday. You are not looking for restaurant plating. You are looking for four identical boxes that hit the number.

Cook in components

A tray of protein, a pot of rice or potatoes, a pile of vegetables. Season them so you will eat them cold if you have to. Portion by scale on Sunday. That is the whole trick.

Leave one meal flexible

If every bite is pre-logged, some people rebel. Keep dinner’s vegetable and protein locked, and let the carb portion flex on training days. The weekly calorie average still has to land.

Prep the protein, not a restaurant

Cook the chicken, the yoghurt breakfasts, the rice. Leave sauces and veg a bit flexible so you do not eat sad beige for five days. Six-pack meal prep is repetition with a number, not a tasting menu you abandon on Wednesday.

If prep day stresses you, prep two days of protein and shop midweek. A blueprint that expects a chef Sunday will fail busy people. Ours should not. Take the quiz and cook the first two dinners tonight.

Scale the boxes on Sunday, not by eye

Cook a tray of protein, a pot of rice or potatoes, a pile of vegetables. Season them so you will eat them cold if you have to. Then portion by scale into 3-4 boxes. Eye-balling is how a meal-prep lunch is 200 kcal heavier than the plan by Thursday. A Look Like Us meal blueprint already names the plates. Prep is logistics. The numbers are the product.

You are not plating a restaurant. You are building four identical boxes that hit protein and the calorie cap. Write the grams on a note the first week. After that your eyes get better. If Sunday stresses you, prep two days of protein and shop midweek. A chef-level Sunday will fail busy people.

If it is not in the house, you will not eat it at 10pm. If the ice cream is in the house, budget it. Hiding food from yourself is how nights get weird. Name the portion on Sunday so Wednesday is not a negotiation.

Two proteins so Thursday is not beige

Chicken all week is why people rebel and order out. Cook two proteins: chicken or turkey plus fish, tofu, or mince. Same carb. Different sauce. That is enough variety for a cut. Three sauces in tiny jars take 10 minutes and save the week. If every bite is identical and sad, the six-pack meal prep dies on day four.

Breakfast can be the same yogurt or eggs every day. Lunch is where boredom kills the diet. Dinner can flex the carb up on lift days. Keep the protein locked. The weekly calorie average still has to land. Two rotating lunches beat a 14-recipe hobby you will not cook twice.

Leftover mince in a wrap with a measured carb still counts as prep. It does not have to live in a clear box to work. Change sauces through the week so you do not eat beige sadness. Repetition with a number beats a tasting menu you abandon on Wednesday.

  • Protein tray one and protein tray two
  • One pot of carb, split by training day
  • Sauce in a separate pot so boxes keep

Freeze day four before it turns

Three to four days in the fridge is enough for most cooked meat and rice. Freeze the rest the day you cook, not the day it smells interesting. Label with a date. Reheat until hot. If you are nervous about fish, eat fish on day one and two and freeze the chicken. Food safety is not a vibe. When in doubt, cook twice a week.

Rice and potatoes reheat better if you cool them fast and store them cold. Veg can be roasted on Sunday and eaten cold, or you can keep a bag of frozen veg for the pan on Wednesday so texture does not wreck you. Prep the protein first. Vegetables can be simpler than people make them on socials.

Freeze one extra dinner if you travel. That is the only useful extra step. Buying twelve new containers is a shopping trip. Label calories if it helps you learn, then stop photographing the boxes. Wednesday lunch existing is the point.

Flex the carb, lock the protein

If every bite is pre-logged, some people rebel. Keep dinner protein and veg locked. Let the carb portion flex 40-80 g on training days. That still looks like a six-pack meal prep. It does not look like a tasting menu you abandon. The average of the week has to stay in the hole.

Travel days: pack the protein if you can, or pick a menu item that looks like the box - a palm or two of meat, a visible carb, plants. Do not invent a new diet because you left the Tupperware at home. Two days off prep is a swap. Five days of airport chaos with no number is a different plan.

Resume the boxes the night you get back. A meal out is allowed if it is in the week. Pull a box for the nights you are in. Four nights of I-will-figure-it-out is how the six-pack meal plan becomes a story you tell in January.

FAQ

How many days of prep is safe?
Three to four days in the fridge for most cooked meat and rice. Freeze the rest or cook twice a week.
Do I have to eat the same thing every day?
You have to hit the numbers. Two rotating lunches is enough variety for a cut.
Can I prep fish the same way as chicken?
Eat fish sooner, often day one or two, or freeze it the day you cook. Fish turns faster in the fridge than chicken for a lot of people. When the week is busy, prep chicken or mince for the later boxes and cook fish fresh once.
How do I season boxes so I still eat them?
Salt, acid, and a sauce you like in a separate pot. Dry beige chicken is why prep fails. You do not need a 12-spice identity. You need food you will open at 1pm on a Wednesday.
What if I travel three days and lose the boxes?
Use the same template off a menu: protein first, a carb you can see, skip the blank-cheque extras. Resume prep the day you get home. Three travel days do not require a new diet personality.
